Privacy policy
Last updated 6 November 2026
This policy covers the DoseDoodle app for iPhone, from Timothy Crouch ("I", "me"). It explains what information the app handles and what happens to it.
What the app stores
You enter your medicines, doses, schedules, supplies, doctors (or vets), and the doses and symptoms you log. You can also add profiles for other people or for your pets, each with a name and, if you choose, a photo. This is health information, and it can be about someone other than you, so please only add another person's details with their agreement. All of it is stored on your iPhone, in the app's own storage, and in a shared storage area that lets the widgets show it. I never receive it and I have no server that could hold it.
What leaves your phone
- Side effect lookup. If you tap Look up when adding a medicine, the medicine name you typed is sent to openFDA (api.fda.gov), the US Food and Drug Administration's public drug label service, to find the label's list of common reactions. Nothing else is sent: no name, no account, no other medicines, and no doses. The FDA's servers will see your internet address as any website would. See open.fda.gov/terms and the FDA's website policies. I do not control or receive anything from that service. If you do not tap Look up, nothing is sent.
- Reports you share. If you create a doctor report (PDF) or export a CSV file, the file is made on your phone. It goes wherever you choose to send it, such as Mail or Messages. After that, the privacy practices of that app and the person you send it to apply.
Optional features and permissions
- Notifications. Reminders are created on your phone. They do not come from a server.
- Camera and photos. If you photograph a medicine label to read its name and strength, the photo is read on your phone and stays there. If you add a picture of a medicine box, or a photo to a profile, from your camera or your photo library, it is kept on your phone with that medicine or profile.
- Calendar. Only if you turn it on, the app adds your medicine schedule to a calendar you choose. That calendar may sync through your own calendar account (for example iCloud or Google), under that provider's terms.
- Face ID. Only if you turn on the app lock. Face ID is handled entirely by iOS. The app never receives your face data, only whether iOS accepted it.
- Siri and Shortcuts. If you use them with DoseDoodle, they are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
This website
The pages at dosedoodle.netlify.app load no analytics and no third-party scripts, fonts or images. They link to Buy Me a Coffee, where you can leave an optional tip. If you follow that link you leave this site, and anything you give to Buy Me a Coffee, including payment details, is handled by them under their own terms and privacy policy. The app itself does not link to it.
What I do not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.
- No selling or sharing of your information.
Your records and your choices
You can edit or delete any medicine, dose or symptom in the app. Deleting the app removes its records from your phone. Because I hold none of your information, there is nothing on my side to access, correct or delete. Your iPhone's own backup (for example iCloud Backup) may contain the app's records. You manage that in your iPhone settings.
Not medical advice
DoseDoodle is a reminder and record-keeping tool. Side effect information comes from US drug labels and may not match the leaflet for the medicine you have, or be a complete list. It is for information only and is not medical advice. It is not endorsed by the FDA. Always follow the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.
Children
The app is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect information about them. Since nothing is collected, there is nothing to remove.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and the date above before the change reaches you. For example, if I ever add cloud sync, this page will say so first.
